Homes for Sale in Nopa, San Francisco, CA
NoPa is the shortened abbreviation of North of the Panhandle, an urban neighborhood in San Francisco, California. As the name implies, the neighborhood sits directly north of The Panhandle park, west of Alamo Square, and east of the University of San Francisco Campus. Streets that make up the suburb border include Turk Boulevard, Divisadero Street, Fell Street, and Masonic Avenue. Located in the heart of San Francisco, residents enjoy easy access to everything the city has to offer. From the busy Downtown District to the east, Golden Gate Park to the west, nearby universities, and the many cultural and historical landmarks and attractions, NoPa is close to it all. Similar to other nearby neighborhoods, NoPa was mostly sand dunes, farms, and marshland during the early years of San Francisco.
The neighborhood developed alongside Downtown San Francisco, with significant residential development ramping up in the 1900s. From there, the neighborhood became a working-class community, and then significant gentrification occurred as demand for real estate increased in the city. Today, you’ll find a diverse selection of residential real estate throughout the NoPa community. Victorian-era and Edwardian-style homes built around the 1900s and 1920s are still predominant. Still, there are many custom home builds, apartment buildings, multi-family residences, condos, and contemporary home models available in the neighborhood. Single-family homes typically start around the 1.5 million dollar price range, with apartments and condos going for $700,000 to $800,000. Larger buildings and multi-family residences tend to have higher price tags, many of which go up to the two to three million dollar price range.
