MEDITERRANEAN MARVEL: Though considerable development did not occur in this area until the 1920s, after which period revival facades became commonplace, it is clear that the high levels of detail and quality found in this part of town surpass many other areas when talking about its architecture. Curved staircases framed by elegant moldings, these ornate fixtures line the streets up and down 21st Avenue. Commercial structures that look like they could easily be mistaken for Mediterranean marvels can also be found on street corners closer to Taraval Street, except for specific art deco structures popping out. While Parkside, San Francisco, real estate may not compare to unified architectural designs like those seen in nearby neighborhoods, the difference still amazes people today as it graciously welcomes new residents.

Parkside is beside Outer Parkside from the west and Golden Gate Heights to the east. The northern boundary runs along Ortega Street and boxes out Sunset Reservoir via 28th Avenue, Quintara Street, and 24th Avenue. The border then meets Ortega Street once again and continues east from this point until the edge reaches 19th Avenue after Lycee Ortega. From here, the boundary cruises down 19th Avenue where you’ll see Top Notch Music School, Miteshkumar Patel, Sunset Service Super Lube, Brothers Papadopoulos, Sky Link TV, Stern & Associates, and Speedway Express before moving through Ulloa Street, 20th Avenue, and into Wawona Street. From this southern perimeter, the neighborhood’s frame moves toward 26th Avenue and moves to the west once you reach Vicente Street, and continues back down Wawona Street from the western side of Parkside Square. This street connects to the west edge through Sunset Boulevard.
